OFW’s cautioned against illegal recruiters in Malta

The Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA) warned overseas Filipinos workers (OFW’s) seeking employment in Malta against illegal recruiters.

Per POEA Advisory No. 53-2018 released on Tuesday, Dec.11, the agency has confirmed illegal recruiters’ schemes to send send OFW’s to Malta, Italy. A report from the Philippine News Agency says these include “unauthorized recruitment, third country, hiring, and excessive placement fees.”

“All Filipinos, who are seeking employment opportunities in Malta are reminded to exercise caution and avoid recruitment schemes by unscrupulous individuals and entities, who are undermining both Maltese and Philippine laws to exact money from their victims,” the POEA said.

OFW’s were further advised to deal exclusively with government licensed Philippine Recruitment Agencites (PRAs).
